Socialist Party Protest: ‘No journalist was intentionally arrested by the Police’—-Lagos PPRO

&NewLine;<p>Lagos State Police Command has said no journalist was intentionally arrested at the Ojuelegba scene of protest on Thursday&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>Socialist Party of Nigeria had organized a protest against fuel price hike in which journalists were arrested&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>Responding to National Association of Online Security Reporters NAOSRE’s inquiry&comma; Lagos Police Command’s spokesman&comma; <a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;openlife&period;ng&sol;">Superintendent Olumuyiwa Adejobi<&sol;a> made these clarification<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>Said he&semi; &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;The men were picked alongside with some protesters&period; They were immediately released by the <a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;openlife&period;ng&sol;">Commissioner<&sol;a> when they produced their Identity Cards&period; So&comma; no journalist was intentionally arrested by the Police&period;”<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>On Thursday&comma; September 10&comma; there were reports of unlawful arrest of four journalists&period; They were covering an organized peaceful protest on the fuel price increase in Yaba&comma; Lagos State&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>The protest was organized by the Socialist Party of Nigeria&period;<br>The arrested journalists were identified as Ifeoluwa Adediran of Premium Times and Abiodun Ayeoba of <a href&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;www&period;thisdaylive&period;com">Sahara Reporters<&sol;a>&period; Others were Awoniyi Oluwatosin of Objective Media and Daniel Tanimu of Galaxy Television&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
