Following an insensitive violation of interstates movement restriction orders during curfew hours including non essential interstates travels, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem
Odumosu, has issued stern warning to commercial vehicle operators and motor parks against further violation of the order saying government is prepared to enforce the laws to the letter as a foremost measure to stop further spread of COVID-19.
In a statement signed and made available to OpenLife by Superintendent Bala Elkana, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, about 150 persons were arrested for violating interstates travel restrictions during curfew hours and 10 luxurious buses impounded on July 18 at about 11pm.
According to the statement, operatives of Lagos State Police Command on enforcement of ban on interstates non essential travel during the curfew hours, intercepted 10 luxurious buses with 150 passengers travelling out of Lagos State to various destinations in the Northern and Eastern regions of Nigeria. The drivers and passengers were arrested, while the buses were impounded. The violators were arraigned in Lagos State Special Offences (Mobile) Court.
The statement further conveyed Odumosu’s warning to commercial vehicle operators and motor parks against violating interstates movement restriction orders during the curfew hours.
He advised passengers not to embark non essential interstates travels during the curfew hours as such would be view seriously by security agents.
