<p><em>7.5 Magnitude earthquake</em><br />
<strong><a href="https://openlife.ng/">OpenLife Nigeria</a> </strong>reports that a magnitude 7.5 earthquake struck Peru early Sunday morning.<br />
This is according to the United States Geological Study (USGS) and Peru&#8217;s National Seismology Center.<br />
Peru is a country in South America that&#8217;s home to a section of Amazon rainforest and Machu Picchu, an ancient Incan city high in the Andes mountains.<br />
The region around Machu Picchu, including the Sacred Valley, <a href="https://www.google.com/">Inca Trail</a> and colonial city of Cusco, is rich in archaeological sites. On Peru’s arid Pacific coast is Lima, the capital, with a preserved colonial center and important collections of pre-Columbian art.<br />
According to the information, the earthquake&#8217;s epicenter was reported in the Amazonas region but was also felt in the capital of Lima and other neighboring towns.<br />
It had a recorded depth of 112 km.<br />
No major damage or tsunami alerts have been reported yet.<br />
Earlier, a magnitude 5.2 earthquake hit the country with the epicenter in El Callao, Lima.</p>
