7.5 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Peru

7.5 Magnitude earthquake
OpenLife Nigeria reports that a magnitude 7.5 earthquake struck Peru early Sunday morning.
This is according to the United States Geological Study (USGS) and Peru’s National Seismology Center.
Peru is a country in South America that’s home to a section of Amazon rainforest and Machu Picchu, an ancient Incan city high in the Andes mountains.
The region around Machu Picchu, including the Sacred Valley, Inca Trail and colonial city of Cusco, is rich in archaeological sites. On Peru’s arid Pacific coast is Lima, the capital, with a preserved colonial center and important collections of pre-Columbian art.
According to the information, the earthquake’s epicenter was reported in the Amazonas region but was also felt in the capital of Lima and other neighboring towns.
It had a recorded depth of 112 km.
No major damage or tsunami alerts have been reported yet.
Earlier, a magnitude 5.2 earthquake hit the country with the epicenter in El Callao, Lima.
