<h4>United Kingdom Suspends Study&comma; Work And Family Visa For Nigerians<&sol;h4>&NewLine;<p><a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;openlife&period;ng&sol;"><strong>OpenLife Nigeria<&sol;strong><&sol;a> reports that the United Kingdom Embassy in Nigeria has announced a temporary suspension of study&comma; work&comma; and family visa applications&comma; as priority was now being placed on applications made under the Ukraine Family Scheme&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;In a statement on Tuesday&comma; the embassy announced that Ukraine Family Scheme was launched in response to the humanitarian crisis arising from the invasion of Ukraine&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;The statement titled&comma; &OpenCurlyQuote;Temporary Suspension of Priority Visas for Student&comma; Work&comma; and Family Applications’&comma; further noted that Nigerians&comma; whose passports were ready for collection&comma; would be contacted by the Visa Application Centre&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;It read&comma; &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;UK Visas and Immigration is currently prioritizing applications made under the Ukraine Family Scheme&comma; following its launch and in response to the humanitarian crisis arising from the invasion of Ukraine&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;&OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;As a result&comma; <a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;punchng&period;com&sol;">UKVI<&sol;a> has temporarily suspended priority and super-priority services for new study&comma; work&comma; and family applications&period; Customers with standard applications in study&comma; work&comma; and family routes may experience some delays in the processing of their application&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;&OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;We are still currently unable to offer PV for visitor applications in Nigeria&period; Standard visitor visa applications are currently taking an average of six weeks to process&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;&OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;Applicants will be contacted by the Visa Application Centre &lpar;VAC&rpar; when their passport is ready for collection&period; They should not attend the VAC until they have been invited to do so&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;&OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;Where there are extremely compassionate or compelling circumstances &lpar;for example&comma; a medical emergency&rpar;&comma; UKVI may consider expediting specific cases&period; However&comma; the bar for this is high and will be assessed on a case-by-case basis&period; If a request is exceptionally urgent&comma; applicants can contact UK Visas and Immigration for help&period; Please note that this is a chargeable service for overseas customers&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;&OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause&period;”<&sol;p>&NewLine;

Nollywood Actress, Shine Rosman, Raises Alarm Over Alleged Sexual Harassment In Lagos OpenLife reports that Nollywood actress Shine Rosman has spoken about what she describes as ongoing incidents of sexual harassment affecting women in parts of Lagos, particularly in Yaba. She said the issue is widely known among residents but remains unaddressed. “Do you know how bad sexual harrssment is in Lagos? Like go to Yaba, as a girl and see how you will be touched inappropriately. Everybody hearing this knows that it is true. But till today, nothing is being done about it.” She described what she claims are repeated incidents of inappropriate contact in public spaces without consequences for those responsible. “You’re walking in Yaba and people are touching you inappropriately and nothing will happen.” Rosman questioned the absence of effective intervention and raised concerns about personal safety in such environments. “If the government is not going to do anything, is it not ok for us to defend ourselves? In 2026, in a country like Nigeria, s+xual har+ssment is still one of the most passive things.” She also raised concerns about the implications of such behaviour occurring in open public spaces. “If a man can s+xually h+rass you casually during the day, what do you think he can do behind closed doors when no one is looking?”. The comments were made during an interview with Tolu Afilaka, where she discussed women’s safety in public areas of Lagos.
