OpenLife reports that at a grand state banquet held at Windsor Castle in honor of Nigerian President Bola Tinubu, King Charles III left guests both surprised and delighted with a playful yet heartfelt nod to Nigerian cuisine.
In the midst of raising a toast, the king didn’t hold back his admiration for one dish in particular Jollof rice.
Videos making rounds online capture the moment perfectly, as King Charles proclaimed;
“The Jollof is only the best; Nigerian, of course.”
His words sparked laughter, applause, and instant social media buzz, proving that food truly is a universal language that can bring people together even royalty and world leaders.
The king’s comment also touched on a long-standing friendly debate across West Africa about which country makes the ultimate Jollof rice.
With his playful endorsement, Nigeria’s beloved dish has now received a royal seal of approval, much to the delight of Nigerians at home and abroad.
For fans of both cuisine and culture, this moment wasn’t just about food it was about connection, pride, and celebration of heritage.
King Charles’ lighthearted compliment reminded everyone that sometimes, the simplest joys, like a perfectly cooked plate of Jollof, can bridge nations and hearts alike.
