Saror was the University VC between 1991 and 1995 said he was on his way from Glasgow, United Kingdom after a research mission when Colonel Victor Umaru, ret’d, who was in the same flight with him announced to him that he had been made the substantive Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University.
“IBB never consulted me. There was no hint anywhere that I was being considered for the position of VC. It came to me as a surprise,” he stated.
