OpenLife Nigeria reports that Nigerian civic advocate and media reform champion, Randy Peter Akah,
widely recognized as a dynamic political activist and influential content creator, was nominated to attend and participate in the UNESCO African Journalism Education Network (AJEN) Conference held in Accra, Ghana, in September 2025.

The high-level conference convened journalism educators, media professionals, policy experts, and development partners from 17 African countries, alongside representatives from European institutions, to advance discussions on strengthening journalism education, media ethics, press freedom, and democratic accountability across the continent.

Akah’s nomination reflects his growing influence in civic engagement, media advocacy, and democratic reform initiatives in Nigeria.

During the conference, he engaged in cross-border dialogues focused on innovative approaches to journalism training, combating misinformation, safeguarding press freedom, and leveraging digital tools to promote transparency and public participation.

The African Journalism Education Network Conference served as a collaborative platform to:
