OpenLife reports that for many people, marriage comes with expectations, roles, and sometimes pressure but for Foluke Daramola, her reality looks quite different.
During a recent conversation on the African A-List podcast, the actress offered a refreshing perspective on her relationship with her husband, Kayode Salako.
In a statement that has since sparked conversations online, she admitted, “I don’t feel like a married woman.”
Rather than suggesting any trouble, Daramola made it clear that her words reflect the kind of freedom she enjoys.
She described Salako as the “definition of peace,” explaining that their relationship thrives on mutual understanding rather than control.
According to her, there are no rigid expectations or restrictions placed on her.
She illustrated this by noting that if she chose to travel abroad for a long period, her husband would fully support her decision without hesitation.
For her, that level of independence is not a threat to their bond it is one of its strongest foundations.
Beyond the traditional label of husband and wife, Daramola said she sees Salako as a friend, confidant, and unwavering supporter.
This dynamic, she explained, removes the typical pressures many associate with marriage.
Even when disagreements arise, she shared that they are handled quickly and maturely. There is no room for prolonged conflict, as both partners prefer to resolve issues and move forward without holding grudges.
Her remarks have drawn renewed attention partly because of past developments in their union.
In 2023, Salako publicly revealed that he had married another woman, Oluwafunke Oyegoke-Salako, while still being married to Daramola.
The announcement generated widespread reactions and raised questions about how the actress navigated the situation.
Salako later explained that their marriage, which began in 2010, had not produced a biological child after many years, a factor he cited in his decision.
