lifeless bodies of victims were seen lying out&comma; as community members struggled to come to terms with the scale of the killings&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;Residents of the Anguwan Rukuba community in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State have confirmed at least 26 deaths following the deadly Palm Sunday attack&comma; with more victims still hospitalised&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>A visibly distressed community leader&comma; who spoke in the video&comma; said the attackers laid an ambush on unsuspecting residents and carried out a coordinated massacre&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;&OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;They laid ambush on our people&period; They killed more than 26&period; We are still counting as some corpses are in the hospital&period; We are calling on the government to take necessary actions&period; If not&comma; we won’t be able to control the youths again&period; We are tired of the killings&period; We are tired of the Fulani militant actions&comma;” he said&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;The latest revelation comes amid rising tension and anger in the community&comma; following Sunday night’s attack in which suspected terrorists reportedly dressed in military uniforms stormed the area and opened fire on residents&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;As earlier reported by SaharaReporters&comma; hundreds of residents on Monday morning defied the government-imposed curfew&comma; trooping to the streets to protest against what they described as persistent killings and government inaction&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;One of the protesters&comma; speaking during a live stream monitored by SaharaReporters&comma; described the chaotic moments during the attack and the absence of an immediate security response&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;&OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;People are outside because of the attack that happened<br &sol;>&NewLine;yesterday&period; They chased the security men because they are not doing any help right here&period; Yesterday around 7 p&period;m&period; to 8 p&period;m&period; in the night&comma; there was no light&comma; so these people were firing&comma; as in straight shooting on rapid&period; A lot of people had to flee for their lives&comma;” the resident said&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The protest later turned tense after operatives of the Nigeria Police Force moved in to disperse the crowd&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;Eyewitnesses said officers began chasing demonstrators while preparing to fire tear gas canisters&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;&OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;People are now running because the police want to shoot at us&period; They want to fire teargas&comma;” another witness said&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;Residents have continued to accuse authorities of failing to prevent repeated attacks in the area&comma; insisting that the curfew imposed by the state government does not address the root causes of the violence&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;The Plateau State Government had earlier announced a 48-hour curfew across Jos North Local Government Area following the attack&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;In a statement&comma; the Commissioner for Information and Communication&comma; Joyce Lohya Ramnap&comma; described the killings as tragic and condemned the violence&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang also denounced the incident as &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;barbaric and unprovoked&comma;” assuring residents that security agencies had been mobilised to apprehend those responsible&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;However&comma; Monday’s developments suggest growing frustration among residents&comma; who warn that continued inaction could trigger further unrest&comma; particularly among youths increasingly angered by the repeated bloodshed&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;The incident adds to a disturbing pattern of violence in Plateau State&comma; where communities have repeatedly come under deadly attacks&comma; raising fresh concerns over Nigeria’s worsening security crisis and the government’s capacity to protect vulnerable populations&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Similarly&comma; bandits have invaded a wedding party in Kahir village in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna state&comma; killing 13 while abducting an unspecified number of people&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>A resident of Kagarko&comma; Shehu Bala&comma; who confirmed the incident through the telephone on Monday&comma; said it happened around 11&colon;47 pm on Sunday&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>He said the bandits&comma; in their large numbers&comma; wielding A-K 47 rifles stormed the wedding venue and opened fire in the hall&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>He said several people who sustained bullet injuries were rushed to Kagarko General Hospital&comma; adding that two other victims with severe injuries were taken to Kaduna&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;In fact&comma; there are two of my friends who were inside the hall that also sustained bullet injuries during the attack&comma;”he said&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;But one cannot ascertain the number of those that were kidnapped because of the sporadic shootings&period;”<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>A community leader who preferred anonymity also confirmed the incident to our reporter through the telephone on Monday&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>He gave the names some of those killed as Bako Danjuma&comma; Williams Luka&comma; Peter Williams&comma; Joseph Yakubu&comma;<br &sol;>&NewLine;Victor Peter&comma; John Dan Asabe&comma; Angulu Markus&comma; Maikano Aribi&comma; Douglas John<br &sol;>&NewLine;Ado Yakubu&comma; Zaphaniah Alhaji&comma; Joseph Kaddah and Francis Unguwa Doya&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>He said the bandits who operated unchallenged for nearly an hour&comma; also invaded some shops and carted away food stuff&comma; provisions and drugs from a chemist in the community&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The community leader&comma; however&comma; said those killed have been buried&comma; even as he said a contact is yet to be established with the abductors of the victims&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;In fact&comma; the entire people of the community were thrown into pandemonium because of the sporadic shooting by the bandits that Sunday&comma; night to the extent some people had to flee into the bush&comma;”the community leader said&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>A police source at the Kagarko division also confirmed kidnap the incident&comma; even as he said the police were yet to know the actual numbers of those abducted in the attack&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>When contacted&comma; Spokesperson of the Kaduna state police command&comma; DSP Hassan Mansur&comma; also confirmed the abduction and killings&comma; saying the command will issue a comprehensive report on the incident later in the day&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;The command is yet to get details of the incident that happened in Kahir community&comma; but a comprehensive report on the incident will made available after getting details of the incident&comma;”he said&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Reporters reliably gathered that the deputy governor of the state Dr Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe&comma; and Senator Sani Musa &lpar;313&rpar; have visited the injured victims at the hospital in Kagarko&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Daily Trust had reported that several communities including Janjala have been under siege by bandits&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>14 people including a vigilante operative and his wife who were abducted in the area three weeks ago are still in captivity&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
