Margaret Ochalla, DIG, Force Criminal Investigation Department Wins Award

Margaret Ochalla

OpenLife News reports that the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) has congratulated its head, Deputy Inspector-General of Police Margaret Ochalla, on receiving the 2026 Gender Sensitivity Award from the UFUK Dialogue Foundation Nigeria.

According to a statement signed by SP Funmilayo Eguaoje, Police Public Relations Officer, FCID Abuja, DIG Ochalla was honoured under the Individual Award Category of the 2026 Peace and Dialogue Awards.

The event was organised by the UFUK Dialogue Foundation Nigeria in collaboration with the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR).

The award recognises her outstanding commitment to promoting gender sensitivity, inclusiveness, and peaceful coexistence in Nigeria.

The FCID described the honour as both a personal achievement for DIG Ochalla and proof of the Nigeria Police Force’s growing commitment to gender-responsive policing, professional leadership, and the protection of the rights and dignity of all citizens.

The Department noted that the recognition reflects DIG Ochalla’s leadership in fostering an inclusive environment where professionalism, fairness, and equal opportunity are core values.

“As the only female in the Nigeria Police Force Management Team, her position is not by coincidence but a testament to her hard work, honesty, integrity, and professionalism,” the statement added.

FCID also appreciated the UFUK Dialogue Foundation Nigeria and the IPCR for acknowledging the contributions of the Nigeria Police Force, particularly the leadership of DIG Ochalla, to gender-sensitive policing and peacebuilding in the country.

The Department reaffirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives that promote justice, professionalism, inclusiveness, public confidence, and sustainable peace across Nigeria.
