How I am Managing To Feed After Leaving Office As Nigerian President—Buhari

How I am Managing To Feed

OpenLife Nigeria reports that former President Muhammadu Buhari has revealed how he is coping with the economic situation of Nigeria after handing over on May 29, 2023.

Buhari reveals that he sustains himself financially through rental income from one of his two houses in Kaduna State, emphasising his commitment to transparency and accountability during his time in office.

Speaking in Hausa at an All Progressives Congress (APC) caucus meeting on January 25 in Katsina, ahead of the local government elections in the state, Buhari asserted that he did not misuse his position for personal gain, stressing that Nigeria’s complexities make governance exceptionally challenging.

The former president shared that he owns just three houses: one in Daura, Katsina State and two in Kaduna State. He noted that one of his Kaduna property is rented out and the proceeds help cover his daily living expenses.

“After my eight years as a civil president, I have only three houses; one in Daura and two in Kaduna. I have given one out for renting where I get money for feeding,” Buhari stated.

He highlighted the difficulties of governing a diverse nation like Nigeria, stating that many citizens fail to understand the complexities involved in leadership.

“Nigeria is a difficult country to govern, but most Nigerians are unaware. You will not understand the complexities of leadership and the country itself until you find yourself in the administrative position of the country,” he said.

Reflecting on his post-presidency life, Buhari said he feels healthier and more relaxed since leaving office.
“I look much better and healthier now than when I was the president of the country. Anybody that sees me now acknowledges that I look better than before,” he remarked with satisfaction.

He also reiterated that he left office with a clean slate, declaring that no one could accuse him of illicit enrichment during his tenure.
