Bishop Derek Ehizele Lists Agenda For FUTA95 Alumni

OpenLife Nigeria reports that Bishop Derek Ehizele, an alumni of the 1995 set of the Federal University of Technology Akure, FUTA, has unveiled his cardinal focus as he emerges president of the association

A New Dawn for Futa95: My Inaugural Address as President Elect

My dear fellow Futa95ers,

Today, we mark a new chapter in our journey together. As I stand before you, humbled and honored by the overwhelming mandate you’ve given me, I am reminded of the wise words of Nelson Mandela: ‘The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.’

To my fellow classmates and all contestants, I express my deepest gratitude for the trust you’ve reposed in me. This victory is not just mine; it’s a testament to our collective desire for a brighter future. As the great American poet, Maya Angelou, once said, ‘Do the best you can until you know better. Then, when you know better, do better.’ Today, we choose to do better.

I must commend the Futa95 Electoral Body, led by Chairman Dr. Orisasona, Elder Paul Azubuike and Ms Moyosore Kasali for conducting a seamless and transparent election. The use of software infrastructure to facilitate the electoral process is a shining example of what can be achieved when we harness technology for the greater good. As the saying goes, ‘Nigeria can learn from the success of Futa95.’ Indeed, we can, and we must.

We would not be here today without the vision and pioneering spirit of our founding progenitors of Futa95, who got inspired to deploy the connecting nexus of WhatsApp to bring us on a digital crucible.

Thanks to Engr Dayo Olatawura, Mr Tayo Oyewoga and Dr Nelson Osungbemiro. Others who further helped the platform to gain traction and sustenance are but not limited to, Pharmacist Oladipupo Ojo, Pastor Rotimi Aborishade, Engr. Bankole Moruff, Mazi Ernest Nnagbo, Chief Abimbola Omotosho, Dr Bunmi Olalekan, Chief Ben Amuta, Chief Lucky Agbaye, Olori Funmi Adesida, Engr Dotun Epega, Lady Gertrude, Prof. Akintayo Cecelia, Elder ‘Laolu Aladesemipe and many others who have contributed to the growth and development of Futa95 platform. We are grateful for your leadership and legacy.

I also want to extend my heartfelt appreciation to my Campaign Director, Chief Abimbola Omotosho. Your tireless efforts, guidance, and unwavering support were instrumental in our success. Lord Gucci, as you are fondly called, thanks a bunch. You are much appreciated.

To my fellow elected officers who won unopposed, I welcome you on board and assure you of my commitment to collective driven leadership. Together, we shall work tirelessly to deliver the dividends of teamwork. As the African proverb goes, ‘When spider webs unite, they can tie up a lion.’ United, we are unstoppable.

The overwhelming victory accorded me today is confidence and trust reposed in my person, and I am not going to let you down. As a Concept &; Development Strategist, by the Grace of God in Yeshua (Jesus, Yissah, Elah), I am going to ask the Futa95 Executive Council (FEC) to buy into ideas that would take our Alumni Association away from the norms and open up new frontiers, possibilities, and opportunities.

We are going to look inward, switch on the innate abilities of our mates, channeling them to productivity to enhance and promote individuals with highly cerebral capacities. We will celebrate our collective strength to engender prosperous mobility. Our immediate environment, FUTA, Akure, Nigeria, and Africa must be prepared for a fresh birth of impacts borne from an out-of-the-box gravitational cerebral propensity.

To say the job before us is sizeable, is to speak lightly of the depth of available capacity in our collective kitty, never to be explored. But God will help us connect our hearts and spirits together in oneness of singleness, devoid of ethnicism, religion, and political dichotomy. We must work together to secure the advantage of our differences and diversities for our benefits and that of our children.

It’s a fresh start, and I hereby call all true institutional indigenes of Futa95 to wipe the slate made dirty, unattractive, and encumbered by toxic coloration of arsenals of varying pebbles and disrespect to and from colleagues.

It’s a fresh start;
it’s a new dawn.

Let’s get the tea pot on the heat, let’s ignite the fire of love.

Let’s get it to simmer and boil for that refreshing and healthy blend.

It’s time to get us laughing again, hug ourselves, transact businesses, locally and across the borders together with fraternal trust, reach out to strengthen feeble classmates as we rekindle the nostalgic glow of Obakekere-Obanla and climb together to El Dorado.

I see an abrupt end come to apathy.
I see classmates return to fellowship of unity.
I see every mate of Futa95 stand in defense of our constituency, with love and its ever increasing frenzy.
I see Futa95 become a harbinger of power brokers, a domain of button clickers and a corridor of men and women of Impeccable Character, Scholarly Prowess and Captains of Industries.

Lastly, I ask my friend and brother Chief Ben Amuta who got into the bout with me to take the victory as his. Indeed the victory is ours. It’s not about me, but it’s about our collectivity. I can see the winner not just in me, but in you and indeed in us as FUTA95ERS.

Gentlemen and Ladies, in the course of smithing this address, something strange occurred! I got interrupted by the thought of that one thing we must all internalize in our spirits as one big, strong indefatigable team, and from the celestial an answer came.

I got this song or call it mantra we can chant over and again to ignite that unbeatable spirit of togetherness in us….

Together, we are indigenes of Futa95! We ride above the tides! Our chord is one! Our nativity has won! We are Futa95! Yes, we are! Never failing, ever reigning!

Let’s reconnect, rediscover and reignite.

WE ALL HAVE WON.
LET’S CELEBRATE TOGETHER!
IT’S TIME TO WORK TOGETHER!
Long live Futa95! Long live FUT Akure! Long live Nigeria!

Bishop Derek Ehizele
