OpenLife reports that Nollywood actress Uche Ogbodo is making waves with a powerful message to mothers everywhere: don’t lose yourself in the name of motherhood.
On her Instagram, the actress shared a striking video flaunting her fit figure while delivering some tough love. She told mothers bluntly: “Fvck them kids!! Moms invest in yourselves, too. You deserve to look good!”
Ogbodo reflected on the sacrifices women make for their families, saying, “Sometimes, in the journey of motherhood, we lose ourselves. We give birth. We nurture. We sacrifice. We pour into our children and our husbands until there is nothing left for us.”
She didn’t shy away from the harsh realities many mothers face body changes, fading confidence, and creeping depression.
“Then slowly… the body shaming begins. The exhaustion deepens. The stress piles up quietly. Your body changes. Your confidence fades. Your mind feels heavy… darker than you expected. And before you even understand what’s happening, depression starts to whisper lies that you’re no longer beautiful, no longer enough.”
Ogbodo also highlighted the strain these pressures can place on relationships: “It begins to affect your relationship.
Communication shifts. Intimacy weakens. Distance grows. And sometimes… he, the Man you’ve sacrificed everything for, walks away.”
Yet, she insists that motherhood should never come at the cost of a woman’s identity or self-worth: “Motherhood should not cost you your identity. It should not cost you your mental health. And it should not cost you your worth. You are still a woman. You are still beautiful. You are still deserving of care, healing, and softness. Take care of yourself, too. Pour into yourself, too. Because when a woman is whole, she shines not just for others, but for herself.”
Ogbodo ended her post with an empowering call to action, inviting women to reach out: “Send me a DM now
@baddieintransitconsult, and I will help you find yourself as I found myself! I love you, woman.”
Through her candid message, Uche Ogbodo reminds mothers that self-care isn’t selfish it’s essential.
She encourages women to reclaim their confidence, nurture their mental health, and shine in their own right. As she puts it, “Because when a woman is whole, she shines not just for others, but for herself.” Her message is a bold call for mothers to honor their worth, invest in themselves, and embrace the beauty of being both a woman and a mother.
