<h4>Why I Married Aisha</h4>
<p>OpenLife Nigeria reports that President Muhammdu Buhari has revealed one of the reasons he married his wife who currently functions as the First Lady, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mrs Aisha Buhari.<br />
President Buhari who clocked 80 years last week was Nigeria&#8217;s Military Head of State between December 31, 1983 and August 27, 1985.<br />
At that time, he had been married.<br />
But after he was overthrowned by General Ibrahim Babangida, the marriage between him and first wife who is now late went sour, a development that called for another wife and this time Aisha.<br />
According to a direct narrative from the President, he insisted his second wife must be an AA genotype after losing two of his children by his late wife, Safinatu, to sickle cell anemia.</p>
<p>Buhari made this assertion while speaking at a private dinner organised by his family and very close associates on Friday, to celebrate his 80th birthday tagged “Celebrating A Patriot, a Leader, an Elder Statesman.”</p>
<p>The President explained that when he wanted to remarry, he insisted the second wife (the first lady, Aisha Buhari) must be AA genotype, so that his children will not inherit the S from his AS genotype.</p>
<p>Aisha, 51, beautician, married Buhari in 1989.</p>
