Nigerian singer, Teniola Apata has denied reports saying she narrowly escaped a kidnap attempt during a performance at Buguma, Asari Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State.
A viral video late Sunday night showed how the incident happened in Buguma.
Teni started her performance on stage as the crowd sang along when the sound of broken bottle and gunshots were heard, then the crowd scampered for safety.
But Teni’s management on Monday morning said it was not a kidnap attempt, but a fight that broke out backstage, leading to a stampede and pandemonium, so they had to carry her to safety.
“Everybody is fine, and everything is good. We are on our way back to Lagos now”, Teni’s management told BBC Pidgin
Eyewitnesses said Teni was performing at a show organized by the old students of Kalabari National College 2002 set to mark their 20th anniversary and give awards before some hoodlums began to cause chaos among themselves.
