Oyinye Chime, prime suspect in the murder of 29 years old Eleyi Azubuike in Anambra State has been arrested.
According to a statement by the Command’s spokesman, Superintendent Haruna Mohammed, Ogidi Division got a report on September 2 at about 10 pm about the alleged murder of Eleyi Azubuike.
The incident allegedly happened at Ochiagha street, Nkpor in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
He was allegedly murdered by his 25 years old girlfriend, Oyinye Chime inside his room.
Following the report, Police detectives attached to Ogidi Division led by the DPO CSP Ekuri Remigius visited the scene. The victim was found in a pool of his blood. He was rushed to Iyi Enu Mission Hospital for medical attention. He was later certified dead by the medical doctor on arrival.
Corpse was deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy.
Careful observation on the deceased body revealed a stab wound on his chess. A blood-stained kitchen knife was also recovered as Exhibit at the scene.
Meanwhile, preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased allegedly impregnated the suspect. He was said not to be interested and recommended abortion. However, that suggestion hit Oyinye on the wrong side. She refused. She was said to have demanded some money for her upkeep. The deceased was said to have refused.
According to the story, that eventually led to a scuffle which resulted to the deceased being stabbed to death.
The case is under investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.
