Oviemuno Oghoore cautions commuters as the year draws to an end

OpenLife Nigeria reports that as the years gradually draws to an end, the honourable commissioner for Transport in Delta State Oviemuno Oghoore, has cautioned commuters to be security conscious as they move from one point to the other.
This is to ensure that commuters do not fall prey the tricks of fraudster.
The Commissioner also charged Commuters to be mindful of the vehicles they board as the yuletide is fast approaching.

Oviemuno gave the advice, due to the increase in vehicular and commuters activities as well as the reported cases of innocent commuters falling victims to fraudsters.

The Commissioner appealed to commuters (passengers) to be sure to board vehicles from recognized motor parks and also to patronize tricycle (keke) and Cabs painted in the State Colour Code of blue and white with boldly written identification unique code numbers at the rear and sides.

Oviemuno enjoined commuters to avoid the temptation of boarding unmarked vehicles from roadsides, stressing that “some persons have been duped, gang-raped and sometimes abducted or even get killed.’’

He further stressed the need to be safety conscious and avoid travelling at night, adding that “even with your private cars, don’t travel at odd hours.’’

Oviemuno Oghoore charged motorists to put their vehicles in good mechanical and electrical conditions and advised that “worn and expired tires should be replaced in order to avoid unpleasant situations.

He directed the Vehicle Inspection Personnel (VIO) and Delta State Traffic Management Authority (DESTMA) to be civil in the discharge of their duties at all times, even in the face of provocation.

The Commissioner equally stated that DESTMA and VIO personnel should not be seen as an enemy on their duty post. He added that there were cases of physical, verbal and psychological abuse concerning the officers. The government will not
