OpenLife Nigeria reports that the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has accused former President Muhammadu Buhari of poor management of insecurity in the country.
Muhammadu Buhari, a retired Army General, was a former military Head of State between December 31, 1983 and August 27, 1985. He returned as Nigeria’s democratically elected President in 2015 and completed a two tenure of eight years in 2023.
Speaking before Senate Committee on Defence, Matawalle said, “As a former Governor of Zamfara State, I know what I have gone through on the issue of insecurity, particularly banditry which is new to us in the North West.
“Today, actions are being made and operations taken on such criminals. The issue of security needs collective cooperation from state, local governments and Federal Government for Nigerians.
“We need key legislations on insecurity. It is gradually going down, we just received two attack helicopters to strengthen the battle against insecurity.”
