INEC declares Soludo winner of Anambra governorship election

<p><strong><a href&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;Openlife&period;ng">Charles Soludo<&sol;a>&comma; the candidate of the <a href&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;OpenLife&period;ng">All Progressives Grand Alliance &lpar;APGA<&sol;a>&rpar;&comma; has been declared the winner of the <a href&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;Openlife&period;ng">Anambra State governorship election<&sol;a>&period;<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Florence Obi&comma; the Independent National Electoral Commission &lpar;INEC&rpar;’s returning officer in the election and vice-chancellor of the University of Calabar&comma; announced the final result on Wednesday morning&comma; following the supplementary election held in the Ihiala Local Government Area of the state&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The tightly contested election exercise was declared inconclusive on Sunday due to massive violence in Ihiala&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Despite heavy security presence&comma; the election failed to hold at all 14 polling units in Orsumoghu Ward&comma; Ihiala Local Government Area&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<h1><a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;openlife&period;ng&sol;pastor-odukoyas-wife-is-dead-photos&sol;"><span style&equals;"color&colon; &num;ff0000&semi;">Pastor Odukoya Wife Is Dead<&sol;span><&sol;a><&sol;h1>&NewLine;<p>Nafiu Mohammed&comma; the collation officer for Ihiala&comma; told Obi that policemen were locked in a gun battle with gunmen for hours&comma; preventing the exercise in its entirety&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>However&comma; after adding the supplementary election votes to the initial numbers&comma; Soludo got a total of 112&comma;229 votes to defeat his closest challenger&comma; Valentine Ozigbo of the Peoples Democratic Party &lpar;PDP&rpar;&comma; who polled 53&comma;807 votes&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The election victory marks another great stride for Soludo&comma; a former governor of Nigeria’s central bank&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
