I Am Not Against Divorce But Not An Option For Me—Omotola Jalade Ekeinde

OpenLife reports that veteran Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade Ekeinde has shared her perspective on marriage and divorce, making it clear that ending her marriage has never been an option for her personally.

The award-winning actress recently opened up in an interview where she reflected on her over three-decade union with her husband, Matthew Ekeinde.

Speaking candidly about relationships and commitment, the Nollywood star explained that while she does not condemn divorce, her own marital experience has been very different from what many couples go through.

According to her, every marriage is unique, and the dynamics between partners cannot be compared.

“Divorce isn’t an option for me. It doesn’t mean it isn’t an option for you.

I am not against divorce. I just always believe that marriage is a very personal thing.

My marriage can never be the same thing as your marriage,” she said.
The actress stressed that no two relationships are identical because individuals bring different personalities and values into a marriage.

For this reason, she believes couples should avoid measuring their relationships against those of others.

“No two marriages are the same because no two persons are the same. The ingredients might not be the same,” she added.

Omotola Jalade Ekeinde also praised her husband for being supportive and humble, qualities she believes have helped sustain their long-lasting relationship.

She described Matthew Ekeinde as a selfless partner who does not allow ego to affect their marriage.

“My husband is a very selfless person; he has no ego. I’ve been married to him for over 30 years, and we have never fought over a girl. So, I don’t have those kinds of problems,” she revealed.

Highlighting the importance of trust in their relationship, the actress noted that both partners respect each other’s independence.
According to her, their marriage works because they give each other space while maintaining strong mutual confidence.

“He doesn’t disturb me. If I have to go do my work, he trusts me totally, and I trust him. So, our indices might not be the same as yours,” she said.

Over the years, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde and Matthew Ekeinde have often been admired as one of the enduring celebrity couples in Nigeria.

Their relationship continues to attract attention from fans who view their decades-long marriage as a rare example of longevity in the entertainment industry
