How Kano NDC Guber
OpenLife News reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has attributed the omission of the Kano State governorship candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, from its final list to a city computer error, assuring that the mistake will be corrected.
The NDC in Kano State disclosed this on Sunday, explaining that INEC has promised to release a revised list containing Gwarzo’s name by Monday.
The party’s Public Relations Officer, Yusif Fasaha, in a statement made available to newsmen in Kano, said the party had consulted INEC immediately after discovering the omission and was told the problem was technical.“I want to assure you that as the PRO of the party, the problem is not from us.
We have consulted the INEC and they told us that the problem was from computer, and they will rectify it,” Fasaha said.”
“So, everybody should remain calm; as from now to Monday, another list containing his name will be out,” he added.
Fasaha maintained that Gwarzo, a former deputy governor of Kano State and a key ally of former governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso who leads the Kwankwasiyya political movement, had fulfilled all requirements and completed necessary processes within the stipulated period.
“We have seen the list and will continue with consultation on the matter,” he said. The omission had generated anxiety among NDC supporters after INEC’s final list showed 17 governorship candidates and their running mates without Gwarzo’s name.
The list had Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) with Murtala Sule-Garo as running mate, alongside candidates of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Boot Party (BP), Action Alliance (AA), African Action Congress (AAC), Labour Party (LP), Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), New Democratic Party (NDP), Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Action Peoples Party (APP), Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA) and Action Democratic Party (ADP).
However, the party expressed confidence that the issue would be resolved following its engagement with the electoral commission, urging members to remain calm ahead of the 2027 governorship election. )
