The Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, has resigned as the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum.
His resignation followed that of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the party, Jibrin Walid, earlier in the day.
Walid was immediately replaced in acting capacity by a former President of the Senate, Adolphus Wabara.
The resignations were at the ongoing meeting of the National Executive Committee of the party in Abuja.
As at press time, a replacement was yet to be named for Tambuwal.
There had been complaints about lopsidedness between the North and the South in the hierarchy of the PDP.
This had been more so from the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, who lost the party’s presidential primaries to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
He has the support of a former Deputy National Chairman of the party, Chief Olabode George.
