Covid-19: Declare inter-state lockdown, Govs tell Buhari

&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">Ahead of President Mumammadu Buhari’s broadcast to the people of Nigeria tomorrow&comma; April 26&comma; on fresh national directives on how to curtail the spread of Covid-19 &comma;  following the expiration of the extra two weeks lockdown&comma; the Nigeria Governors’ Forum&comma; NGF&comma; has recommended  for inter- state lock down excluding movements of essential supplies like food and beverages&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">In a signed letter dated April 24 and addressed to Boss Mustapha&comma; Secretary to the Government of the Federation and chairman&comma; Presidential Task Force on Covid-19&comma; &nbsp&semi;the body of Nigerian governors also urged the federal government to consider&comma; amongst other things&comma; &nbsp&semi;internal free movement but with restrictions on large gathering and assemblies&semi; over night curfew&semi; lock down on flights and compulsory use of face mask in public&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">The governors who spoke through governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State and chair of the Forum&comma; promised to co operate with the federal government in all areas to ensure speedy defeat of the deadly virus&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">Meanwhile&comma; as of the last account&comma; precisely on April 24&comma;&nbsp&semi; about 2&comma; 631&comma; 839 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed out of which 182&comma; 100 recorded as deaths in 213 countries around the world&period; That is the shocking statistics of Covid-19&comma; a disease which broke out in December 2019 in Wuhan&comma; a 11 million Hubei Province in China’s 7th largest city&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">The disease&comma; named Covid-19&comma; which has been declared pandemic by World Health Organization&comma; WHO&comma; has negatively impacted economies&comma; disrupting socio-cultural&comma; religious&comma; sports and financial structures&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
