Buhari confers National Honours on Buratai

OpenLife Nigeria reports that President Muhammadu Buhari has conferred national honours on Lt. Gen Tukur Buratai, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, Burna Boy, 2face Idibia, Teni and many other prominent Nigerians.
The Former chief of Army staff who is currently the Nigerian Ambassador to the Republic of Benin received the Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR) award, at the International Conference Centre in Abuja for his meritorious services.
The event began after Buhari was ushered into the premises at about 10:13 am by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and other senior officials.
In attendance were Senate President Ahmed Laman, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief Justice of Nigeria Olukayode Ariwoola, the President’s Chief of Staff, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, Service Chiefs, the Inspector-General of Police several ministers including the Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, George Akume.
Others were Traditional Rulers including the Emir of Lafia, Sidi Mohammad, who is the Chairman of the National Honours Awards Committee Secretary of the 2022 National Honours Awards Investiture and members of the diplomatic corps.
Born on November 24, 1960, Buratai was appointed Chief of Army Staff by President Muhammadu Buhari in July 2015.
He was commissioned into the Nigerian Army in 1983 and has had multiple command, administrative, and instructional appointments.
General Buratai who hails Buratai town in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State, had his primary education at Buratai town and thereafter gained admission to Government Teachers College Potiskum, Yobe State, where he graduated with distinction.
In January 1981, Buratai attended the Nigerian Defence Academy Kaduna as a member of the 29 Regular Combatant Course (29 RC) where he was given the prestigious appointment of Cadet Sergeant Major (CSM).
On successful completion of his Officer Cadet training, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on 17 December 1983 into the Infantry Corps of the Nigerian Army.
Buratai has a degree in History from University of Maiduguri and a degree in Philosophy from Bangladesh University of Professionals, Dhaka. He is also a graduate of National Defence College, Mirpur, Bangladesh.
