Chief Olatunde Abudu, OFR, a foremost Industrialist has made a whopping N10 million donation to support Moshood Abiola Polytechnic. Abudu, a Fellow of the Institution made the donation when the Management of the Polytechnic paid him a courtesy visit on advocacy for the support of the institution in his residence in Abeokuta.
According to the Public Relation Officer Mr Ajibola, the Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Samson Adeola Odedina who led the management team on the visit, briefed the chief about government support to the ivory tower since it was returned to status quo ante in June, 2019 and other challenges associated with smooth running of the school.
He added that, Odedina said that the importance of the meeting was to continue relationship with all Polytechnic stakeholders in order to bring the institution to its rightful place among the friendship of Institutions in Nigeria.
The Rector said effort is ongoing to launch the institution back into prominence in the 2019/2020 admission with the Joint Admission Matriculation Board(JAMB) returning MAPOLY status to its portal and National Board For Technical Education(NBTE),” assuring the revalidation and accreditation of forty four programmes previously run by the Polytechnic, while new programmes including its first set of Agricultural and land-related courses in its forty years of existence.
The institution is also taking advantage of the new Polytechnic act recently signed by President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, that now empowers Polytechnics to partner with other relevant institutions to produce high-level manpower”
Meanwhile,Chief Olatunde Abudu expressed joy for having the Management of the Polytechnic on a courtesy visit, recounting his relationship with the institution and his belief in educational development as well as the relevance of MAPOLY in filling the gaps in capacity building and employment generation in Nigeria.
The nonagenarian educationist commended the Management for resolving to turn around the institution with consultation and revalidation of relationship with major stakeholders of the Polytechnic
He added that the Mayegun of Egbaland, therefore promised his unflinching support to corroborate the Management’s drive to rebranding the foremost forty year old MAPOLY.
