Police Officers and men of the Anambra State Police Command, attached to Akwa B Division, have, yet again, risen to the occasion of ridding the highly commercialized State of crime and criminal activities in line with the crime fighting template of the State Commissioner of Police, John Abang.
In ‘Anambra State Police Command Diary’ signed by Superintendent Haruna Mohammed, Anambra Police spokesman and made available to OpenLife, the Command disclosed that on August 9, 2020 at about 1:30am, there was a report of alleged murder of one 43 years old Azuibuike Ekwegbalu.
He reportedly hailed from Ogbunike in the Oyi Local Government Area of the State.
As of the time of his death, Azuibuike Ekwegbalu was resident at the Commissioners’ quarters in Awka, the State capital.
Following the report, according to Haruna, Police detectives attached to B’ Division in Awka led by the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, Chief Superintendent Emma Ogbuanya visited the scene and rushed the victim, who was found in a pool of his blood, to Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, COOUTH, Amaku, Awka, for medical attention.
However, he was certified dead on arrival by the medical doctor, according to Haruna.
His corpse, the statement added, was deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy.
Meanwhile, the statement continued, a careful observation on the deceased body revealed stab wounds while a blood stained kitchen knife was also recovered as exhibit at the scene.
Consequently, one suspect, who allegedly was in the premises has been arrested and the case, at the moment, is under investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident please.
Reacting, a facebook commentator, Gabriel Akonta, attested and commended the professionalism of DPO Emma Ogbuanya.
Said he: SP Haruna once gave me his contact regarding a case in my compound. The way he handled it was quite commendable. Kudos.”
Another facebook commentator, SaintJude1965, has this to say of the DPO: “I must observe that DPO Ogbuanya is a fine gentleman, going by the way he treated the matter of my detained friends”
