OpenLife Nigeria reports that MTN Nigeria Communications Plc, a part of a multinational telecommunications group, which operates in 21 countries in Africa and the Middle East, has assured that fifth generation technology, 5G, will unlock business potential across sectors.
Lynda Saint-Nwafor, Chief Enterprise Business Officer of MTN gave this assurance on Thursday at a breakfast meeting organized by the Nigeria – South Africa Chamber of Commerce, N-SACC.
The telecommunication company which began operations in Nigeria from the very first phone call, made at Maritime House, Apapa on May 16, 2001, launched its 5G pilot on Wednesday, with plans to roll out services in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Ibadan, Kano, Owerri, and Maiduguri soon.
Speaking on a theme “5G Private Networks: Accelerating Operational Efficiency for Businesses,” Saint-Nwafor explained that the technology is the part of the needed ingredients in the menu for Nigeria’s all inclusive breakthroughs across sectors.
“It is a digital evolution,” Saint-Nwafor said adding that at this period when consumers are digital savvy, no business owner should prepare for the future without embracing the emerging digital evolution to optimize efficiency and enhance profitability.
“MTN is the first technology company to introduce this to Nigerians. 5G connects everything. It increases speed and efficiency. It unlocks the potential of independent soft ware developers. It has business support application. It is the best for ‘ease of administration’ and it is a life turning experience that nobody should miss,” Saint-Nwafor advised the audience.
Earlier, in his welcome remarks, the chairman of the Nigeria-South Africa Chamber of Commerce, Osayaba Giwa-Osagie, SAN, noted that the August breakfast meeting was the first physical meeting since the outbreak of pandemic.
He thanked the distinguished audience for keeping faith with the tenets of the Chamber.
Giwa-Osagie urged members to take full advantage of the 5G technological surge newly introduced by MTN.
“As business enterprise, let us take full advantage of this emerging surge in technology to drive sales in our various businesses,” he advised.
