Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has revealed why he prayed for the opposition party PDP at the presidential rally in Jos, Plateau State.
Social media was agog on Tuesday after Tinubu suffered a gaffe during his speech at the flag off of his 2023 campaigns.
While rounding off his speech, he suffered a slip of tongue as he mistakenly referred to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) when he had his party in mind.
“…I hand over back to the chairman of the party before he disciplines me for leaving the President waiting and keeping him standing. We are calling, inviting the national chairman to invite the President. At least to close this part of the ceremony. Thank you, God bless you, God bless Nigeria. God bless PD…APC,” he said.
The incident had sparked rumours that Tinubu might be suffering from dementia.
Critics of the APC Presidential Candidate have said Tinubu avoids debate in order not to goof.
Reacting to critics, Tinubu said he was intentionally praying for his enemies and showing them love.
Speaking through the spokesperson of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Organisation, Femi Fani-Kayode on Thursday, November 17, Tinubu said he is glad he prayed for the PDP in Jos.
“The Bible says “pray for your enemies and show them love and kindness for it is like heaping coals of fire on their heads: in doing so the Lord will REWARD you.”
“I am glad that BAT prayed for PDP in Jos.
“We shall repay their EVIL with GOOD so that, as the Bible says, “evil will never depart from their households”.
