Why I Did Not Visit The Oba Of Lagos

OpenLife Nigeria reports that the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi has given reasons he did not visit Oba Rilwanu Akiolu, the Oba of Lagos when he attended Labour Party mega rally in Lagos on Saturday, February 11.
Speaking on Channels TV Monday even, Obi reaffirmed that he has deep respect for the Oba of Lagos and indeed, all traditional rulers.
He explained that he owns it as an obligation to visit the traditional ruler anywhere he visits on campaign.
Obi added and regrettably so that there are few occasions when he could not visit the traditional rulers.
“Lagos is not the only place I have not been able to see a traditional ruler. Most times, when we apply and seek appointment, the Oba may not be available to receive us. They always advise us to apply for another date.”
Obi disclosed that when he visited Owerri, he could not see the traditional ruler in Imo State. “ No issue about that,” he clarified.
Many public affairs analysts have opined that the reason Peter Obi shunned the Oba’s palace was as a result of the Oba’s statement some years ago when he threatened Igbos with lagoon drowning if they don’t vote APC.
