What Nigerian musicians should do

OpenLife Nigeria reports that erstwhile Nigerian Music Sensation and leading voice in the musical scene, Esse Agesse, says there is a need for Nigerian musicians to redevelop content to achieve greater global reckoning.
Agesse, who bestrode the musical scene with her scintillating and sonorous voice before relocating abroad, made this observation in an exclusive interview with OpenLife.
According to her, “I do have little problems with contents. There are little or no messages in songs,” she lamented.
However, Agesse sees no reason content development should be a problem to modern musicians whom, she expects, should be able to raise the bar.
According to her, “It is great that we are in the digital era. So the cost of producing songs are not as high as before,” she stated stressing that musicians should take full advantage of digitalizing to enhance the industry.
Esse, who migrated to Ireland where she lives with her children for over a decade, disclosed that she is still very much in music. But this time for spreading the gospel so that lots of folks can make heaven.
“My engagement in music is honestly limited to the Church for now. However I keep composing and keep working on some of my songs, she revealed.
Amongst her gospel songs is ‘Oghene Migwo Doh’ an Urhobo gospel song of praise and thanksgiving to God for His goodness and mercy daily.
Born in Delta, Nigeria Lady Esse Agesse is a Mother, Writer, Singer cum Songwriter and activist now based in Ireland.
She started singing professionally in the early ’90s with the release of her first album titled ‘familiar Stranger ‘ in 1992.
Lady Esse released her first gospel album in 1997 titled ‘Simply Esse’ with hit songs like ‘Araebamiyo.’
She has won several awards and produced top-rated films.
