OpenLife Nigeria reports that ahead the December 16, 2024 conferment of Mayor Ndigbo on Chief, Dr. Chidi Anyaegbu (MFR), Chairman, Chisco Group of Companies, Mr. Jewel Chisom, one of the Igbo stakeholders, speaks about the upcoming event.

In this exclusive interview, he clarifies the position and applauds the choice of Chisco as Mayor Ndigbo

Lots of people are asking questions about the difference between Ohanaeze Ndigbo and the newly introduced Mayor Ndigbo. As a stakeholder, can you clarify the difference?

Yes, Mayor Ndigbo stands on its own. The Mayor Ndigbo will be speaking on behalf of Igbo businessmen.
The Mayor Ndigbo will also be intervening on relationship problems between business partners.
The Mayor Ndigbo will be sitting with different committees to settle such issues.

Then, all those thousands of associations of Ndigbo that are operating on enterprise platforms must stop.
And all these associations will be registering under Mayor Ndigbo or Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
We have Ohanaeze Ndigbo which is the apex socio cultural organization which protects Igbo culture and tradition.

Then, Mayor Ndigbo will be functioning like the Buckingham Palace in the UK. The Mayor will be addressing areas of fake products associated with Igbo by educating those people with such character on the implication and repercussion through diplomacy and negotiation.

One other area the Mayor will be working on is to strengthen good relationship between Ndigbo and other tribes through diplomacy and negotiation.

One of the first things the Mayor will the addressing as he resumes office is the issue of Nnamdi Kanu through diplomacy and negotiation for his release.
The issue of Simon Ekpa in Finland will also be addressed through diplomacy and peaceful negotiation as well.

Chisco said that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is his friend for ages. Not only that, they have also transacted some businesses which went successfully well. So, he can approach President Tinubu any day, anytime.

Ndigbo, there is nothing to be worried about. It is for our collective good. The Mayor Ndigbo , Chief Chidi Anyaegbo {Chisco} is the chairman, Anambra Security Trust Fund. He has used his personal contacts and connections to raise billions of Naira through south east businessmen spread all over the world.

When he was inaugurated, he told the former governor Willie Obiano that he was not going to be signatory to the account of Anambra Security Trust Fund.

This is who Chisco is. He always try to avoid anything that is going to implicate him or stain his reputation.
His records of service are very clean.

Chisco wants to work as Mayor Ndigbo worldwide so that people will understand the role and value Igbo are adding to Nigeria and other parts of the world.

According to one of the interviews, he said his leadership is not about fight. It is about diplomacy.
In the same interview, he said the Indians and Lebanese who are in Nigeria are doing more complicated businesses in the country through negotiation and diplomacy even with government and nobody is calling them bad names.

But some of our Igbo brothers are into legitimate businesses. But because some of them are ignorance of negotiating diplomatically, the policies go against them.
The other area he said he is going to use his philanthropic money on is to visit all the Correctional Centres {prisons} in Nigeria and know those who are innocent in the cases against them.

He said he is going to engage over 300 lawyers on such mission including his best friend , Femi Falana , SAN, to lead the team.
He said ‘I am not a politician. I am a logistic person’ which he doesn’t see as a profession but area of his calling.

He has accepted that God has blessed him so much but according to him, his sincere joy in life is to use what God has given to him to impact lives positively.

Chisco said that a lot of stakeholders, king makers , group of businessmen, different clubs have been approaching him for this position in the past nine years and he has been dogging it.

But when he realized that it is part of his philanthropic nature, he decided to accept it so that together with other committees that are going to be working with him, they will try to negotiate so that Ndigbo will be speaking with one voice.

Chisco believes that with God, all things are possible.
