Speed Darlington Under Fire Over ₦40,000 House Help Salary — Fans Slam Him

OpenLife Nigeria reports that Nigerian entertainer Speed Darlington has once again set social media ablaze, but this time it’s not for his music.

The singer and online personality caused a stir after announcing he is seeking domestic help.

In a statement that has left fans and critics talking, he said:

“I’m now looking for house help, male or female, but preferably female.
The monthly pay will be ₦40,000 to serve only me, even if I have plenty people in my house you are only serving only me as your lord and Saviour.”

The declaration has drawn intense reactions online, with many questioning the modest salary in 2026.

Some critics wondered if the ₦40,000 monthly pay is “for biscuits” rather than a serious wage, while others openly challenged Darlington’s audacity to pay so little, arguing it falls below acceptable standards for domestic workers today.

Fans have flooded comment sections with mixed reactions ranging from humorous memes to serious debates about fair pay for house staff proving once again that whatever Speed Darlington does, it never goes unnoticed.
