OpenLife Nigeria reports that Oyemyke, the widely-followed Nigerian social commentator, has spoken out on the recent decision of prominent Igbo business figures including Obi Cubana, Cubana Chiefpriest, Zenco, and Enviable to publicly back Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his 2027 re-election bid.
These Lagos-based entrepreneurs, who have carved out significant fortunes in the city, are aligning with Tinubu amid growing conversations about political loyalties in Nigeria’s commercial capital.
On their choice, Oyemyke remarked:
“If you were in their position, would you abandon Tinubu and support someone else? These are Igbo businessmen who left their cities and built their lives in Lagos: a city shaped by Tinubu.
Their investments are in Lagos. They’re businessmen, not politicians.”
Analysts say this endorsement highlights how Lagos’
business-friendly environment continues to influence political decisions.
Tinubu’s long-standing impact on the city’s economic landscape appears to have shaped the choices of entrepreneurs who consider Lagos home.
