OpenLife Nigeria reports that the courtroom in Yaba reportedly turned tense as Afrobeats heavyweight Davido allegedly lost his cool during a custody battle with ex, Sophia Momodu.
Lawyer Maruf Muhammed took to Twitter, sounding the alarm:
“Davido in High Court, Yaba now! Come and see drama in court. The lawyer made OO1 lose his patience during cross-examination o! Be you never so high, the law is above you!!”
A tweep weighed in, stressing that cross-examination is designed to rattle even the strongest:
“It is very easy to do, even a new lawyer will make him loose his patience. Anyone who is not used to court appearances can be stressed during cross-examination.
No matter how big or popular the person is! No matter how composed the person is! Cross-examination is meant to shake tables, even if the tables are strong initially.
Every lawyer is looking for that position to break the table.”
Maruf didn’t hold back in his follow-up, claiming the lawyer struck hard during questioning, triggering the singer’s reaction but thankfully, his father stepped in:
“Yes, oo! The lawyer hit him and made him look worthless. He got angry. Na him Papa de pat him.”
The alleged courtroom flare-up has since ignited conversations online, with many debating whether pressure, pride, or provocation sparked the heated moment.
