Sanusi Buba, Katsina Commissioner descends on criminals, rescues captives

The renewed vigour and tenacious commitment of Katsina State Police Commissioner, Sanusi Buba, to end  the ugly mention of Katsina State on daily criminal pages, are yielding results as several arrest have been made in the past few weeks including recovering of arms and rescue of kidnap victims.

These revelations are contained in a press statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Gambo Isah.

According to the statement,  there was a report, on June 20, that bandits numbering about 18 had attacked Salihawar Dan-Alhaji village in the  Batsari Local Government Area of the state, kidnapping two females and rustled cows.

This prompted the Batsari’s Operations “Puff Adder” and “Sharan Daji,” led by the Divisional Police Officer, DPO to chase the hoodlums into the forest and engaged them in a gun duel.  The team succeeded and rescued one 55 years old Laure Alhaji Amadu and recovered 18 cows and 10 rams.  At the moment, search parties are still combing the area with a view to rescue the other kidnapped victims.

Similarly, the Command has  rescued a kidnapped 72 years old Alhaji Magaji Ibrahim, head of Barkiya village in Kurfi Local Government Area of Katsina State.

According to Isah, the Police got information on June 23 to the effect that

bandits numbering 10 attacked the village.  The DPO led a team of Counter Terrorists Units in collaboration with local vigilante, chased and engaged the hoodlums into a fierce gun duel.  In the spur of the moment, the hoodlums took to their heels and escaped into the forest which led to the rescue of the victim unhurt and has since been reunited with his family.

The Public Relations Officer also disclosed that on June 14, a distress call was received that one 40 years old Abdulrahaman Abdulkarim of Madabu village, Dabawa, Dutsinma Local Government Area killed his 19 years old junior wife called  Wasila Sada and dumped her dead body in a Well.  Consequently, DPO Dutsinma led a team of detectives to the scene, recovered the body and took it to the General Hospital where it was confirmed dead by the attending physician after post mortem examination. The  suspect has been arrested and is assisting the police in their investigation.
