Presidency names killers of Chike Akunyili

<p><strong>By Doris Israel Ijeoma<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<h2>The Nigerian presidency has revealed those who carried out the brutal killing of Dr Chike Akunyili&comma; the widower to late NAFDAC DG&comma; Dora Akunyili&period;<&sol;h2>&NewLine;<p><a href&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;Openlife&period;ng"><strong>Open Life<&sol;strong> <&sol;a>reports that Dr Chike was killed by unknown gunmen on Tuesday on his way from Onitsha to Umuoji at Eke Nkpor&period; He was said to have been killed alongside his driver and police escort&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Akunyili had on Tuesday attended a lecture at Sharon Hall&comma; All Saints Cathedral&comma; Onitsha&comma; which was organized by the University of Nigeria Nsukka Alumni Association &lpar;UNAA&rpar;&comma; Onitsha branch&comma; in honour of his late wife&comma; Prof Dora Akunyili&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The source said&colon; &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;He spoke glowingly about Dora his wife&comma; and made a donation of N500&comma;000 to the association&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;He was there with his son&comma; Obum who now works with Anambra State government&period; We saw them off to the car and it was emotional when Obum hugged him &lpar;Chike&rpar; tight as both of them separated to join their respective vehicles&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;Obum was in a white Hilux while the man was in a Prado Jeep&period; He must have been killed when returning from the function&period;”<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Reacting via a Facebook post on Wednesday&comma; Buhari&&num;8217&semi;s aide&comma; Lauretta Onochie said Dr Chike was killed by IPOB militants&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<h1><a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;openlife&period;ng&sol;buhari-approves-creation-of-159-tv-radio-stations-full-list&sol;">Buhari Approves Creation Of 159 TV&sol;Radio Stations &lpar;Full List&rpar;<&sol;a><&sol;h1>&NewLine;<p>&&num;8220&semi;DR&period; AKUNYILI HAS BEEN MURDERED BY<br &sol;>&NewLine;IPOB&period; Dr&period; Chike Akunyili&comma; the widower of our Dora Akunyili has been gruesomely murdered by IPOB&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;His security detail&comma; a priest and his driver&comma;<br &sol;>&NewLine;were also murdered&period; He came to Onitsha for a function in honour of his late wife&comma; Dora&period; They were killed on their way back home&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PEACE&period; God bless Nigeria&&num;8221&semi;&comma; she wrote&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;

Nollywood Actress, Shine Rosman, Raises Alarm Over Alleged Sexual Harassment In Lagos OpenLife reports that Nollywood actress Shine Rosman has spoken about what she describes as ongoing incidents of sexual harassment affecting women in parts of Lagos, particularly in Yaba. She said the issue is widely known among residents but remains unaddressed. “Do you know how bad sexual harrssment is in Lagos? Like go to Yaba, as a girl and see how you will be touched inappropriately. Everybody hearing this knows that it is true. But till today, nothing is being done about it.” She described what she claims are repeated incidents of inappropriate contact in public spaces without consequences for those responsible. “You’re walking in Yaba and people are touching you inappropriately and nothing will happen.” Rosman questioned the absence of effective intervention and raised concerns about personal safety in such environments. “If the government is not going to do anything, is it not ok for us to defend ourselves? In 2026, in a country like Nigeria, s+xual har+ssment is still one of the most passive things.” She also raised concerns about the implications of such behaviour occurring in open public spaces. “If a man can s+xually h+rass you casually during the day, what do you think he can do behind closed doors when no one is looking?”. The comments were made during an interview with Tolu Afilaka, where she discussed women’s safety in public areas of Lagos.
