POWERING AFRICA WITH VISION: HAKUNA SOLAR’S TRAILBLAZING JOURNEY FROM THE TONY ELUMELU FOUNDATION ROOTS TO GLOBAL IMPACT

 POWERING AFRICA WITH VISION

OpenLife Nigeria reports that founded in 2019 by visionary entrepreneur Akuma Chijioke, Hakuna Solar™ has emerged as a game-changing brand in Africa’s renewable energy space. With a foundation built on strategic partnerships, cutting-edge technology, and impactful service delivery, the award-winning company is transforming energy access across the continent.

In an exclusive interview with OpenLife Magazine’s Senior Staff Writer, Isaac Ngumah, Chijioke recounts how his undergraduate days at Ebonyi State University sparked a lifelong passion for solar energy and led to the birth of Hakuna Solar

Hakuna Solar…powering Africa with vision

What Makes Hakuna Solar™ a Leading Brand in Nigeria’s Energy Sector?

Our leadership in the renewable energy sector stems from a combination of world-class engineering, strong partnerships, and an unwavering commitment to quality. One of the key catalysts in our journey was a $5,000 grant from The Tony Elumelu Foundation, which powered our early growth and credibility.

We’ve established strategic alliances with some of the world’s most respected Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), including:

  • Felicity Solar
  • Jinko Solar
  • Fouani Group
  • CWORTH Energy
  • Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE)
  • Itel Energy
  • Huawei
  • Bluetti
  • Calpak Prisma

These partnerships have allowed us to access high-performance technology and deliver installations that meet global standards.

Our engineers are certified and OEM-trained—ensuring precision, durability, and reliability. We’re also trusted to restore and upgrade systems that were poorly installed by others. That’s why many clients turn to us when they need expert recovery, redesign, and execution.

We use industry-leading components such as lithium-ion batteries with lifespans of up to 10 years, and every installation comes with warranty documentation (handover document) and user training—because service doesn’t stop at setup.
