Pastor Tobi Adegboyega Sparks Debate After Saying Bible Was “Written by White People”

UK-based Nigerian pastor, Tobi Adegboyega, has stirred fresh conversations online after doubling down on his controversial remarks about the authorship of the Bible.

Speaking during a recent sermon, the outspoken cleric addressed the backlash that followed his earlier statement suggesting that the Bible was written by white people.

While acknowledging the criticism, Adegboyega insisted he stands by what he said.

“Some people said I claimed the Bible was written by white people. I stand by my words, but we still rely on it. Scripture is the foundation we build upon,” he stated.

Despite the debate his comments have triggered, the pastor stressed that the Bible remains the backbone of his ministry.

According to him, the real issue is not the text itself but how believers engage with it.

Adegboyega encouraged Christians especially young people to challenge what they are taught and dig deeper into scripture rather than accepting teachings at face value.

“You rarely see movements where hundreds of young people engage daily with the Bible, speaking and teaching from it,” he said.

Reflecting on his own journey of faith, he revealed that he spent years examining the Bible critically before fully embracing its teachings.

“I I examined the Bible to truly understand its message.

I won’t accept anything without investigation. I refuse to follow the older generation blindly, asking no questions and remaining unaware,” he explained.

The pastor also took aim at what he described as a culture of unquestioned religious practice, arguing that it has produced a society that appears deeply religious but lacks genuine spirituality.

“Our parents created a religious nation that lacks spirituality. We read the Bible and follow its instructions, but sometimes without truly understanding it,” he concluded.

His comments have since ignited heated discussions online, with supporters praising his call for deeper biblical understanding while critics argue that his statements risk misrepresenting the history of scripture.
