A yet-to-be identified man has been shot dead in Maitama area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja while trying to rescue a kidnap victim.
The attack happened at about 8:46 pm on Wednesday.
Eyewitnesses say the man was killed by suspected kidnappers who invaded Gana Street.
The victim was killed while trying to rescue a man that was being forced into a vehicle by the suspected kidnappers.
The kidnappers’ victim was shot in the head and died instantly while the criminals reportedly abducted their target.
Spokesperson of the FCT Police command, Josephine Adeh, confirmed the development.
She added that security operatives are already on the trail of the assailants.
