Atiku Abubakar, ADC presidential candidates
OpenLife Nigeria reports that Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, in a more clear move to liquidate Atiku Abubakar’s 2023 presidential project, on Wednesday and with active support from Donald Duke, cut the support supply lines to Atiku in Cross River State, deflating the political machinery of Liyel Imoke, a former PDP governor of the State who is reputed as Atiku’s lead supporter and placing the entire Cross River PDP in a situation more difficult to operate.
Wike exhibited this when he hosted Peoples Democratic Party’s candidates for the State and National Assembly elections in Cross Rivers State.
The delegation which include chairmen of the party in the various local government areas was led by the Cross River Governorship Candidate of the party, Senator Sandy Onor.
In his speech, Onor said, “Today is historic. Wike is a trail blazer for justice and equity. He speaks the truth fearlessly.”
He said the candidates were in Rivers to “thank Wike for being a good friend when Governor Ben Ayade defected to the All Progressives Congress”.
“Wike has defended us and protected us from intimidation. He has made PDP a party to beat in Cross River.
“There is nothing that Wike is asking for that is personal. All he seeks for is justice,” he noted.
Onor also announced that Wike donated 25 brand new buses for the campaigns in Cross River State.
This development has technically left Atiku in limbo in that part of south south, given that all the party’s candidates, who are the major grassroots mobilizers, have switched loyalty to Wike.
It would be recalled that governor Wike and Atiku have been at logger heads since Atiku emerged the presidential flag bearer of PDP in the 2023 presidential election.
Atiku’s emergence did not settle well with Wike. Series of meetings home and abroad have not assuage the Rivers governor who has vowed to teach Atiku the lesson of his life.
