In this interview, the founder of Powertech Solar Energy Company Ltd, Akinola Olusegun Shobanjo said that the services of Powertech Solar Energy Company Ltd are the solutions to Nigeria’s power challenges.<br />
He spoke with Isaac Ngumah, OpenLife’s Senior Staff Writer</p>
<p> ;</p>
<p><strong>What stands Powertech Solar Energy Company Ltd out as One Of The Reputable Companies In the power sector in Nigeria?</strong></p>
<p>Apart from the fact that Powertech Solar Energy Company was incorporated in 2010, it has been able to go a long way in doing a lot of installations that have developed a lot of rural settings like rural electrifications projects and illuminations, solar street lights projects and other projects have made us to be popular.</p>
<figure id="attachment_29825" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-29825" style="width: 300px" class="wp-caption alignnone"><img class="size-medium wp-image-29825" src="https://openlife.ng/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Tec-6-300x169.jpg" alt="Our Competence, Professionalism In Rural Electrifications, Solar Lights Make Powertech Solar Energy One Of The Best In Nigeria---Akinola Olusegun Shobanjo, CEO" width="300" height="169" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-29825" class="wp-caption-text"><em><strong>Founder of Powertech Solar Energy Company Ltd, Akinola Olusegun Shobanjo</strong></em></figcaption></figure>
<p>Powertech Solar Energy has integrated in upgrade and ongrade solar installation in Nigeria and we had a lot of opportunities to feature in many global conferences around the world.<br />
These have enhanced our profile.</p>
<p><strong>Why did you venture in Solar energy business?</strong></p>
<p>In Nigeria today, there is epileptic power supply in the country and there are areas where grid does not cover at all.<br />
Since we started the rural electrification projects there are so many areas in Lagos here where grid does not cover at all.</p>
<figure id="attachment_29828" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-29828" style="width: 300px" class="wp-caption alignnone"><img class="size-medium wp-image-29828" src="https://openlife.ng/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Tec-3-300x225.jpg" alt="founder of Powertech Solar Energy Company Ltd, Akinola Olusegun Shobanjo" width="300" height="225" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-29828" class="wp-caption-text"><em><strong>Akinola Olusegun Shobanjo of Powertech Solar Energy Company Ltd with a foreign partner</strong></em></figcaption></figure>
<p>So, we then decided to find a way of providing power to all these areas.<br />
In Badagry, for instance, there are some areas that are <a href="https://www.vanguardngr.com/">offshore</a> that don&#8217;t have grid supply at all.<br />
Same thing in across the Island where there is no grid supply.<br />
Schools and businesses need power.</p>
<p>Most of them still have to survive with generators . But through the help of some organisations and the Lagos state government, we have been able to change the narratives.<br />
Some years ago, we did a lot of jobs like solar streets light, provisions of power stations for people in those areas to operate their boreholes.</p>
<figure id="attachment_29830" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-29830" style="width: 169px" class="wp-caption alignnone"><img class="size-medium wp-image-29830" src="https://openlife.ng/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Tec-169x300.jpg" alt="Our Competence, Professionalism In Rural Electrifications, Solar Lights Make Powertech Solar Energy One Of The Best In Nigeria---Akinola Olusegun Shobanjo, CEO" width="169" height="300" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-29830" class="wp-caption-text"><em><strong>Akinola Olusegun Shobanjo, CEO</strong></em></figcaption></figure>
<p>We also provided solar charging stations so that they can charge handsets.<br />
These were done in collaboration with Lagos State government through the ministry of rural electrifications and these have given us boost in the industry.</p>
<p><strong>What range of products do you offer?</strong></p>

<p>Yes we expect the government to give us grants.<br />
