Orthner Rosemary, Austrian Consul General, advocates support for Jospong to tackle Ghana’s sanitation needs

Orthner Rosemary, Austrian  Consul General to Ghana,  has advocated for supports Jospong Group in tackling the country’s sanitation needs.

Orthner made the appeal during a familiarization visit to selected waste management facilities of the Jospong Group in Accra.

The Consul General urged Ghana’s Government to continue to support and collaborate with  Jospong Group and Zoomlion Ghana in its sanitation needs.

Orthner disclosed Austria’s preparedness in collaborating with JGC and Zoomlion. She, however, opined that the task is so huge and requires the candid support of the government. She added that without creating an enabling environment, the company will encounter several problems.

The Consul General emphasized Jospong and Zoomlion’s  impeccable records and image in area of waste management in the sub region. Therefore, the  group, according to her, deserves government’s fullest support to be able to turn things around for Ghanaian people.

Orthner  who was accompanied by Mr Martin Orthner, Honorary Vice Consul and Ms Tornu Gifty Esenam, Consular Assistant, expressed satisfaction in the operations of JGC-Zoomlion.

“We have heard a lot about the Jospong Group and Zoomlion. But we never anticipated that the company is so well developed and organized already beyond imagination,” she reckoned.

Earlier, a group of directors and managers led by the Jospong Apex Group Chief Operating Officer, Dr Samanjith K Udumalagala briefed the Austrian team about their operations in a presentation.

He said the group is motivated by its vision of changing people’s live. It also envisions to be a  leading Africa holding in every sector.

APPEAL

Dr Udumalagala appealed to the Austrian Consulate to attract  investors to partner JGC in all the sectors they operate in.

The team was led to the Accra Sewerage Systems Ltd. They  solved the over 110 years direct faecal matter dislodgement into the sea problem.

The team observed that faecal matter is being converted into green energy. This, according to them, augments the grid and turns same into charcoal for domestic cooking purposes.

The team visited the Integrated Recycling and Composting Plant (IRECOP) and Dredge Masters Ltd. They are subsidiaries of Zoomlion where organic waste is turned into compost for agricultural purposes and plastics recycled.

The team, as well, visited Universal Plastic Products Limited (UPPR). In UPPR,  plastic waste is being recycled into chairs, tables, waste bins, bin liners, buckets and containers for water storage.
