Orji Uzor Kalu Recommends Gov Wike’s Model

Orji Uzor Kalu

OpenLife Nigeria reports that as Nigeria federal government searches for solutions to the lingering insecurity across the land, former governor of Abia State, now Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District in the 9th National Assembly, Orji Uzor Kalu has offered fresh perspective on how insecurity can be tackled in Nigeria.

Kalu who is nursing presidential interest in the 2023 general elections says state governors are in better position to handle insecurity.

He explained that rather than point accusing fingers on the federal government, state governors who are key managers of grassroots with statutory powers to over see all unoccupied territories, are in position to put the activities of bandits in check.

He pointed out the administrative acumen of governor Nyesom Wike who has ensured that bandits remain unwelcome in Rivers State territory.

He therefore, strongly recommends Wike’ s model to other governor’s to achieve a peaceful Nigeria.

Senator Kalu who made these observations wrote on his Facebook wall:

My interview yesterday on Arise TV, I told Nigerians that fighting banditry and illegal activities is more of the responsibility of State Governors than the President. A serious state Governor cannot wait for the president to secure his own state . Yesterday, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike took the bull by the horn by visiting illegal refinery sites . These illegal crude oil refining sights has caused deaths and diseases to the people through pollution. By visiting the sites, taking decisive actions and not waiting for President Buhari to enter the creeks , he has given leadership . He has shown how a Governor should act while the President does general oversight. To put an end to the insecurity in the nation, the Governors must be in the forefront of the fight against insecurity.
