<h4>Omotola says her children faced d&period;eath threats during &num;EndSARS<&sol;h4>&NewLine;<p><strong><a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;openlife&period;ng&sol;">OpenLife Nigeria<&sol;a><&sol;strong> reports that Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has opened up about the personal fallout from her involvement in the 2020 &num;EndSARS protests&comma; revealing that her children became targets of death threats after a controversial social media post&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>In a candid discussion on Channels TV’s Rubbin’ Minds&comma; the actress reflected on how a comment she made online&comma; questioning reports of violence at the Lekki toll gate&comma; sparked a wave of backlash that extended to her family&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;The attack was very personal&period; My kids started getting death threats&period; It was weird because I was on the streets for &num;EndSARS&period; I was doing international advocacy&comma;” Omotola said&comma;<br &sol;>&NewLine;recounting the intensity of the response&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The &num;EndSARS movement&comma; which erupted in October 2020&comma; saw Nigerians demanding an end to police brutality and the disbandment of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad &lpar;SARS&rpar;&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The protests took a tragic turn on October 20&comma; when security forces opened fire at the Lekki toll gate in Lagos&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Omotola clarified that her online query was meant to seek understanding&comma; not to downplay the tragedy&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;Especially when EndSars happened with all the backlash&period; A lot of what I said was misunderstood&period; I have received death threats many times before&period; I am used to it&comma;” she added&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Highlighting her long-standing advocacy work&comma; Omotola noted&comma;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;I also worked with Amnesty International&period; My husband was flying for Shell&period; And I went to protest against Shell in London&period; I have never seen anything like EndSars&period; It was intense&period;”<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>In the end&comma; Omotola said the experience was a turning point&comma; as the threats against her children made the &num;EndSARS backlash deeply personal and forced her to rethink how she engages in activism going forward&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
