As the crises of salary payment deepen, resulting to the Association of Resident Doctors (ARD), Abuja chapter embarking on an industrial action, Prophet TB Joshua has given excellent mark in professionalism to Nigerian doctors.

A statement made available
to OpenLife quoted the Prophet as saying ;
“Take it or leave it, ;Nigerian medical doctors and nurses are one of
the best in the world. I am not talking only about their experience; I am
talking as a minister of God. Government, take care of them. Those who have
left — let us see what we can do to bring them back. Those who are planning to
leave — let us encourage them with incentives so that they can stay. I see the
future of our medical practitioners as going to be the best in the world. I am
not talking about the medicine they use or the facilities at their disposal; I
am talking about their heart of care. Without the heart, nothing can work at
its best. The heart treats best.”

Meanwhile, the Abuja doctors , announced their decision about an hour after the third case of
Covid19 was confirmed in Nigeria’s commercial capital, Lagos.

The doctors said
they deliberated extensively on the health threat posed by the coronavirus
scare, their work conditions, and patient care before arriving at the
“difficult decision.”

In a statement
signed by its president, Roland Aigbovo, the association said the mass action
followed the failure of the FCT administration to pay them their basic salaries
for more than two months.

Mr Aigbovo said
their members have been thrown into financial distress due to the nonpayment of
their salaries and despite repeated warnings and ultimatum, nothing has been
done by authorities.

He said there has
been salary irregularities and shortfalls since the migration to the Integrated
Personnel and Payroll Information System by the FCTA.

The ;union leader said other health workers who are
also affected by the salary shortfalls will join the mass action within 48
hours if their demands “which are the same with ours are not met.”
