Nigerian Army moves weapons to Chad for final onslaught against Boko Haram

Following last week success recorded by Republic of Chad that destroyed five bases of Boko Haram terror group, the Nigerian Army is currently moving to Sambisa Forest with weapons of war for final onslaught against the dreaded insurgent.

The militant group had attacked Chadian military base on March 23, killing 98 of its  soldiers.

In retaliation, their bases in Niger and Nigeria were destroyed last week as part of “Operation Boma’s Wrath,” according to Chad’s presidency which said operations against the terror group would continue without pause.

Before the movement to Sambisa Forest, the Nigerian Army had taken delivery of shipment of military vehicles from NORINCO, a Chinese state-owned defense corporation that manufactures a diverse range of civil and military products.

Among the assortment of weapons delivered were about 17 military vehicles comprising VT4 Main Battle Tank, SH5 105 MM Wheeled Self Propeled Howtzers and STI Tanks

Boko Haram launched a bloody insurgency in 2009 in northeastern Nigeria but later spread its atrocities to neighboring Niger, Chad and Cameroon, which prompted a military response.

Millions of people have been killed and nearly 3 million displaced in a decade of Boko Haram terror activities in Nigeria, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
