NDC Health Care Programme: Professionals can pick early signals of pregnant women intending to abandon babies—NDC UK-Ireland

NDC Health Care Programme is capable of detecting pregnant women’s obnoxious intentions, says Alhaji Alhassan Mbalba, a Social Protection Expert.

Alhassan Mbalba, who doubles as Chairman, National Democratic Congress,NDC, UK and  Ireland Chapter, said the medical initiative is novel.

“First, in Ghana’s history, a political party- NDC promises to establish a Centre of Excellence for social workers training. They would take care of the most vulnerable in Ghana. They would also offer employment opportunities for graduates from the School of Social Work.

“I therefore, appeal to all to vote massively for President John Mahama and NDC’s parliamentary candidates on 7th December 2020. All social workers, child welfare professionals, allied professionals and Ghanaians should heed this call.

“This is because President John Mahama’s next government will provide Free Primary Health Care. The government will train and equip social workers to lead the social protection efforts in Ghana. This initiative  will  minimise, and in the long term, eradicate these kinds of unfortunate incidents, he appellaed.

GHANAWEB

It would be recalled that on Ghanaweb (5th October) an Assin Praso resident, Gladys Ackom, discovered an abandoned newborn baby. The baby was dumped in the walkway leading to her bathroom. The mother of the baby is yet to be identified.

“In developed countries such as the UK, antenatal care is universally free. It is mandatory for all pregnant women to seek antenatal care through out their pregnancies. And failure to seek antennal or attend antenatal care appointments regularly without good reasons would raise alarm bells. The  midwifery department will notify the local Child Protection Department and Children’s Services will undertake a risk assessment.

“A Pre- Birth Child Protection Conference holds with a view to devise a Child Protection Plan to protect and safeguard the unborn baby. Social workers, Midwives, Doctors, mental health nurses, police, the family and other relevant professionals will be in attendance.

“The NDC People’s Manifesto is promising Ghanaians that John Mahatma’s government will provide Free Universal Primary Health Care.  It  will be accessible and free antenatal care to all pregnant women,” he promised
