Najaatu Dismisses BVAS, Attacks OBJ, Gives Reasons Obi Cannot Win

Najaatu Dismisses BVAS

OpenLife Nigeria reports that Najaatu Bala Muhammad, a popular Kano State born politician and activist, has said despite the popularity of the Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi in the February 25 election, he cannot win.
Najaatu who recently abandoned the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and joined Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, made the disclosure during an interactive session on AIT Wednesday morning.
Among other things, Najaatu admitted that Obi is very popular and amiable but lacks the structure to win presidential poll on February 25.
She stated that Obi does not have elected public office holders across the wards in Nigeria that would help the Labour Party candidate galvanize supports and protect his votes on the day of election.
She noted that the differential in the political strengths among the leading candidates cannot be deciphered in ideologies but human structures across Nigeria.
She maintained that there had been fixed appointments between her and the Labour Party flag bearer but busy schedules frustrated their meetings in which case they would have probably agreed to work together.
When reminded about Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BVAS, an electronic device designed to read Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, and authenticate voters’ identity to check fraud and manipulations, put in place by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Najaatu described such technological measures as wasted efforts that would not guarantee credible poll on February 25.
The 66 years old former president of the National Students Union Nigeria of Ahmadu Bello University, ABU, Zaria as well as the first female Vice – President of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, further lambasted former President Olusegun Obasanjo, describing his supports for Peter Obi as inconsequential saying “How many votes can Obasanjo give Obi in Otta?
She described Obasanjo as hypocrite who he accused of stifling Obi’s efforts when the ex banker was the governor of Anambra State. “Obasanjo does not have a political clout,” she stated.
