Kehinde Bankole Reveals Reason She Stayed Off AMVCA 2026

OpenLife reports that Kehinde Bankole has offered clarity on why she was not present at the 12th edition of the AMVCA, choosing work on set over attending the prestigious film ceremony in 2026.

The celebrated Nollywood actress was engaged in production at the time of the event, fully committed to filming a project she describes as a major addition to her evolving film journey.

Her decision to stay away from the ceremony was driven by professional responsibilities that required her attention on set rather than on the red carpet.

Instead of making an appearance at the Lagos-based awards night, she dedicated her time to shooting what she referred to as an important creative work currently in progress.

This explanation came directly from her, where she addressed the reason behind her absence in clear terms:

“I missed the AMVCA because I was filming my next masterpiece for you”.

Her words reflect a focus on storytelling and craft, suggesting that her priority at the time was the completion of a film project she considers significant.

While the AMVCA 12th edition proceeded with appearances from several top industry figures, her absence was simply a result of scheduling demands tied to production.

Within the context of her career, she remains one of Nollywood’s prominent figures, consistently involved in roles that require intensive preparation and on-set commitment.

This latest explanation reinforces her pattern of prioritizing film work when major commitments overlap.
